A walk in the park—Identifying healthy greenspaces using scents

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
As urbanisation accelerates globally, access to nature is increasingly recognised as vital for public health and wellbeing. We captured and analysed plant‐emitted airborne ‘scent signatures’ across Oxford's urban greenspaces to assess their potential health relevance.

Pesticide exposure of operators during mixing and loading a drone: towards a stratified exposure assessment

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Operators are exposed to concentrated formulation during mixing of pesticide into the nurse tank and to an in‐use dilution during loading the drone; stratification of exposure for mixing and loading would inform the exposure assessment approach by applying the appropriate dermal absorption considerations.

CONCERT: A Modular Reconfigurable Robot for Construction

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents CONCERT, a fully reconfigurable modular collaborative robot (cobot) for multiple on‐site operations in a construction site. CONCERT has been designed to support human activities in construction sites by leveraging two main characteristics: high‐power density motors and modularity. In this way, the robot is able to perform a

SensHB.Q: A Cost‐Effective Force‐Sensitive Handlebar to Control Omnidirectional Robots and Wheelchairs

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper details the design and development of SensHB.Q, a force‐sensitive handlebar intended for caregivers driving electric‐powered wheelchairs, particularly those with omnidirectional mobility. The same interface can also be used in the future to operate other omnidirectional motorized systems, such as mobile robots, hospital beds, and ...

Experiences With a Last Meter Delivery Robot

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The steady growth of e‐commerce is a consolidated trend continuously increasing the number of parcels delivered worldwide. Conventionally, in logistics, last mile delivery has been the area of study covering the last step of a parcel delivery process: from the nearest distribution center to the customer.

Subterranean Mine Inspection Using the Prometheus Re‐Configurable Drone

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper describes the design, development, and real‐world testing of an autonomous drone for subterranean exploration, known as “Prometheus.” Driven by requirements from industry that the drone be able to be deployed through areas of restricted access, Prometheus was designed to be directly deployed through a 150 mm aperture.
