Changes of Electric Potentials of Skin Induced by Heat

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1958
Skin potential measurements of rabbit and man were made by use of intradermal needle electrodes and recording with a self-balancing Brown potentiometer. Radiated heat energy decreased the potential and the degree of change apparently corresponded to the temperature at the recording site, one degree on the average being equal to 1.41 millivolts.

Electric Security Fences for Power Substations: Electrical Safety of Induced Potentials

2025 47th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC)
Attempted copper theft from power stations causes many fatalities and is an increasing concern. There is a trend towards using electric security fencing to protect power stations. However, capacitive and inductive coupling into fence wires from the power lines above has not been studied previously.

Sensory Examinations using Electrically Induced Somatosensory Potentials

Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 1971
SUMMARYThe electrically induced somatosensory evoked potential was used in an attempt to evolve a method of objective sensory examination in young children. In less than half of the older children with gross cord lesions was a definite sensory level evident. This level agreed well with clinical findings, so that the method may be of restricted clinical

Simulation of ultrasonically induced electrical potentials in bone.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023
Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound treatment is known to shorten the healing period of bone fractures by 30%-40%, but the initial mechanism of the healing process remains unknown. One possible mechanism is related to the piezoelectricity of bone. However, the complex geometry of bones results in inherent challenges to evaluating electric fields induced ...

Oxygen-Induced Nonuniformity in Surface Electrical-Potential Barrier

Modern Physics Letters B, 1997
In order to quantify the behaviour of surface electrons on O-chemisorbed metal surface, as observed wtith STM and STS, we developed a model on nonuniform electrical potential barrier. The new modelling approach contains: (1) the elastic potential, the spatial variation and the energy dependence of the inelastic damping are unified by the electronic ...

Electrical potentials in bone induced by ultrasound propagation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
Bone with complex geometry is hard, heterogeneous and anisotropic tissue, which makes ultrasound diagnosis very difficult. Therefore, the simulation of wave propagation is often performed to understand the complicated wave propagation in bone, where we find solid-liquid coexisting conditions.

Revealing Electrical‐Poling‐Induced Polarization Potential in Hybrid Perovskite Photodetectors

Advanced Materials, 2020
AbstractDespite recent rapid advances in metal halide perovskites for use in optoelectronics, the fundamental understanding of the electrical‐poling‐induced ion migration, accounting for many unusual attributes and thus performance in perovskite‐based devices, remain comparatively elusive.

A simple model for the simulation of ultrasonically induced electric potentials

2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2019
Although ultrasonically induced electric potentials in bone may play an important role in the bone formation and remodeling process, many aspects of the bone’s weak piezoelectricity are still unclear. Most of the previously conducted studies consider a biological rather than electrical perspective.

Oscillations of Membrane Potential across a Polypeptide Membrane, Induced by an Electrical Current

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1998
Oscillation of membrane potential across a tri-block copolypeptide membrane composed of (Glu)x-(Leu)y-(Glu)x (x = 0.18 and y = 0.64) was observed under an electrical current, when the membrane was placed between equimolar aqueous salt solutions. The amplitude of the oscillation was influenced by the type of cation and anion in the external salt ...

On the Electric Potential Induced by a Homogeneous Magnetic Field in a Turbulent Pipe Flow

Flow, Turbulence and Combustion, 1999
The authors study the turbulent pipe flow of a weakly electrically conducting fluid in the presence of a homogeneous magnetic field perpendicular to the flow. Special attention is paid to the fact that this situation describes the flow in an electric induction flowmeter. Thus, the Hartmann number is small, the modification of the flow caused by Lorentz
