Reconstruction of Large Bone Defects Using induced membrane Technique of Masquelet [PDF]
Background: Management of large bone defects is a challenge for the surgeon and the patient as well, many functional and psychological disabilities results on and must be properly dealt with.Masquelet technique saves time, easily performed and can give ...

Fibrinogen-induced Vitreous Membranes
Fibrinogen was injected in the vitreous cavity of 29 rabbits with follow-up for 75 days. Vitreous membrane formation was detected by indirect ophthalmoscopy and confirmed by histopathological study. Membrane formation was significantly more common in the fibrinogen group than in the control group.

Challenges and Outcome of Infected Non Union of Bones using Masquelet Technique: A Case Series [PDF]
Infected non union of bones poses a significant challenge for orthopaedic surgeons due to the complexity of the problem, which includes bone necrosis, segmental bone loss, sinus tract formation, fracture instability, and scar adhesion of soft tissues ...

Induced-Membrane Technique in the Management of Posttraumatic Bone Defects
Background: Critical-size bone defects are defined as bone defects where spontaneous regeneration is not expected without treatment1. The characteristics of bone defects (etiology, location, size, presence of infection, and soft-tissue conditions) vary ...

Thrombocytopenia Induced by Polysulfone Dialysis Membranes
BACKGROUND Biocompatible hemodialysis membranes have greatly advanced the treatment of renal failure. Synthetic polysulfone dialysis membranes are considered to be very biocompatible because of their low propensity to activate complement. However, these membranes can reduce platelet count through platelet activation, although the mechanism of this ...

Membrane leakage induced by dynorphins
Dynorphins, endogeneous opioid peptides, function as ligands to the opioid kappa receptors and induce non‐opioid excitotoxic effects. Here we show that big dynorphin and dynorphin A, but not dynorphin B, cause leakage effects in large unilamellar phospholipid vesicles (LUVs).

Membrane-Induced Folding and Structure of Membrane-Bound Annexin A1 N-Terminal Peptides: Implications for Annexin-Induced Membrane Aggregation [PDF]
Annexins constitute a family of calcium-dependent membrane-binding proteins and can be classified into two groups, depending on the length of the N-terminal domain unique for each individual annexin. The N-terminal domain of annexin A1 can adopt an alpha-helical conformation and has been implicated in mediating the membrane aggregation behavior of this

Introducing the Pearl-String Technique: A New Concept in the Treatment of Large Bone Defects
The reconstruction of long bone defects after the primary traumatic, secondary infectious, or tumor-related loss of substance continues to represent a surgical challenge. Distraction osteogenesis using segmental transport, vascularized bone transfer, and
