The induction period in ethylbenzene disproportionation over large pore zeolites

open access: yes, 1997
The factors influencing the length of the induction period in ethylbenzene disproportionation over large pore zeolites were systematically investigated using LaNaY zeolites with different degrees of lanthanum exchange.

Elaboration of the Demulsification Process of W/O Emulsion with Three-Dimensional Electric Spiral Plate-Type Microchannel

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
Rapid and efficient demulsification (destabilizing of an emulsion) processes of a water in oil (W/O) emulsion were carried out in a three-dimensional electric spiral plate-type microchannel (3D-ESPM).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A sensitive period for the neural induction of taste buds [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 1987
Taste buds mature postnatally in the vallate papilla of the rat and reach a mean number of 610 by day 90. Although taste buds are neurotrophically dependent, the presence of widespread bilateral innervation permits more than 80% of the 610 vallate taste buds to survive after one IXth nerve is removed in adults. However, after a IXth nerve is removed at

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Fractionation of Camellia oleifera seed oil by molten layer crystallization and lipid characteristics of its products

open access: yesShipin yu jixie
ObjectiveTo address the limitations of the traditional fractionation process of Camellia oleifera seed oil, a novel molten layer crystallization process based on crystallization kinetics theory is developed.MethodsUsing crude C.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Periodic Rigidity on a Variable Torus Using Inductive Constructions [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2015
In this paper we prove a recursive characterisation of generic rigidity for frameworks periodic with respect to a partially variable lattice. We follow the approach of modelling periodic frameworks as frameworks on a torus and use the language of gain graphs for the finite counterpart of a periodic graph.

Oxidative stability of biodiesel in the presence of leaves and fruit extracts [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica
This research evaluated the efficiency of ethanolic extracts from yerba mate leaves (Ilex paraguariensis), coffee leaves (coffea arabica), and jambolan pulp (Syzygium cumini Lamarck) through the application of the simplex-centroid mixture design, the ...
