Solid Porous Materials for Selective Capture and Separation of Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6)

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
The effective capture of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), one of the most potent greenhouse gases, is a critical environmental challenge. This study evaluates porous materials—coconut shell‐derived activated carbons, a commercial activated carbon monolith, and a metal‐organic framework—for capturing SF6.

Optimized Thermal Treatment of Lithium‐Ion Battery Components as a Basis for Sustainable Pyrometallurgy

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
This study investigated thermal decomposition and surface changes of lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) cathode, graphite anode, and polymeric separator from 100 to 800 °C, focusing on the 400–650 °C industrial range. A 500 °C treatment was optimal, removing all organic carbon within 1 h while preserving the NMC spinel structure and preventing

Timing is everything: The effect of early‐life seizures on developing neuronal circuits subserving spatial memory

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Spatial memory, the aspect of memory involving encoding and retrieval of information regarding one's environment and spatial orientation, is a complex biological function incorporating multiple neuronal networks. Hippocampus‐dependent spatial memory is not innate and emerges during development in both humans and rodents.

Optimal Seismic Design of High‐Rise Buildings With Outrigger Tuned Inertial Mass Damper

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel optimization method for designing a system with a tuned inertial mass electromagnetic transducer (TIMET) damped outrigger (DO) for high‐rise buildings subjected to earthquakes. The DO system consists of the TIMET devices, which attach vertically between the outrigger and the perimeter columns.
