An overview of infectious bursal disease
Archives of Virology, 2012Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is a viral immunosuppressive disease of chickens attacking mainly an important lymphoid organ in birds [the bursa of Fabricius (BF)]. The emergence of new variant strains of the causative agent [infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV)] has made it more urgent to develop new vaccination strategies against IBD. One of these

Molecular phylodynamics of infectious bursal disease viruses
Virus Genes, 2022The present study was conducted to study the molecular phylodynamics of the Indian field IBDVs. A total of 13 organized commercial poultry farms and 29 village poultry flocks were recruited in the study. The broiler flocks showed 15.25-60.18% mortality, followed by 12.4% in improved native poultry varieties and 5% in indigenous birds.

Infectious Bursal Disease Subunit Vaccination
Avian Diseases, 2008Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) is the causative agent of infectious bursal disease, a nosologic entity with global economic importance in poultry. The viral protein 2 (VP2) is recognized as the virus' major antigenic protein. The goal of this study was to generate yeast (Pichia pastoris)-based protein expression from the VP2 gene of the Edgar ...

Abstract Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), a double stranded RNA virus belonging to the genus Avibirnavirus and family Birnaviridae, is the causative agent of infectious bursal disease (IBD) (Luque et al., 2009). IBDV shows selective tropism for lymphoid tissues especially bursa of Fabricius and causes an acute and highly contagious viral ...

Immunorheophoresis for the Diagnosis of Infectious Bursal Disease
Avian Diseases, 1998The immunorheophoresis (IR) technique was used for the detection of infectious bursal disease antigen from bursae collected from field cases and experimentally infected chickens. When these results were compared with that of the agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test, they showed excellent agreement as determined by kappa value.

Infectious Bursal Disease Virus
1980The purpose of this article is mainly twofold: to call attention to the infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) as a member of a new and relatively unknown group of viruses and to point out a particular feature of IBDV replication, namely infection of lymphoid cells of the bursa of Fabricius (BF) as the main target organ and “viral bursectomy” as a ...
