Molecular characterization of reassortant infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) strains of genogroup A3B1 detected in some areas of Britain between 2020 and 2021.

open access: yes
Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) causes a major immunosuppressive disease of chickens. As part of ongoing epidemiological surveillance for IBDV, the hypervariable region (HVR) of the VP2 capsid gene encoded by segment A, and a region of the VP1 ...

Molecular epidemiology of infectious bursal disease virus in Zambia

open access: yesJournal of the South African Veterinary Association, 2013
Nucleotide sequences of the VP2 hypervariable region (VP2-HVR) of 10 infectious bursal disease viruses detected in indigenous and exotic chickens in Zambia from 2004 to 2005 were determined. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the viruses diverged into two genotypes and belonged to the African very virulent types (VV1 and VV2).

A recombinant avian adeno-associated virus as a vector for infectious bursal disease vaccination.

open access: yesRevista Científica, 2010
Infectious bursal disease is a worldwide distributed immunosuppressive disease of young chickens that need to be controlled by vaccination; it represents one of the main concerns for the poultry industry.

Western blot detection of infectious bursal disease virus infection

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1998
In order to evaluate the use of a Western blot methodology for the diagnosis of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) infection, chickens were experimentally infected with IBDV strains and tested for the presence of viral antigens and antibodies by a ...

Generic Variance Indicating Mutations in The Vp2 Gene of Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (Ibdv) Variants

open access: yesThe Bioscientist
Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is a disease caused by infectious bursa virus (IBDV). The disease is highly affecting young chickens, representing a serious threat to the poultry industry worldwide.

Virulence determinants of infectious bursal disease virus

open access: yes, 2003
The study aimed to identify putative virulence determinants for the exotic poultry pathogen infectious bursal disease virus. Results suggest that three specific amino acids in viral protein 2 influence viral pathogenicity, and as a consequence these were

Detection of infectious bursal disease virus using SYBR Green 1 based realtime polymerase chain reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an acute contagious viral disease of young chickens known as Gumboro disease (Lasher and Shane, 1994). The etiological agent, IBD virus (IBDV), has a predilection for the cells of the bursa of Fabricius where the virus

Preparation Of Inactivated Infectious Bursal Disease Virus Vaccine From Classical Strain And Local Variant Isolates

open access: yesJournal of Applied Veterinary Sciences, 2018
This study was conducted to assess an inactivated vaccine prepared from local field isolates of Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) "local variant and virulent isolates" and a classical strain "bursa vacc" to improve the full control over the problem of IBD ...

Infectivity of Infectious Bursal Disease Virus for Embryonating Eggs

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1970
Abstract THE disease that Cosgrove (1962) reported as avian nephrosis has since been referred to as infectious bursal disease. Early attempts to propagate the infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) by serial passage in embryonating eggs frequently resulted in failure to maintain the virus. Landgraf et al. (1967) reported a typical experience that has
