Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus: A growing but overlooked threat to global cucurbit production

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus (CABYV) presents a significant threat to cucurbit crops worldwide. In this description of a plant virus we review what is currently known about this plant virus. Abstract Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus (CABYV) presents a significant threat to cucurbit crops worldwide.

Are papers addressing certain diseases perceived where these diseases are prevalent? The proposal to use Twitter data as social-spatial sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We propose to use Twitter data as social-spatial sensors. This study deals with the question whether research papers on certain diseases are perceived by people in regions (worldwide) that are especially concerned by the diseases. Since (some) Twitter data contain location information, it is possible to spatially map the activity of Twitter users ...

Flagellins as Vaccine Adjuvants and Cancer Immunotherapy: Recent Advances and Future Prospects

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
The figure depicts the role of flagellin in immune cells. Flagellin interacts with TLR5, resulting in the formation of homodimers and the recruitment of MyD88, which activates the IκB and MAPK signalling pathways. This results in the activation of NF‐κB and AP‐1, producing TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐8, and IL‐12.

Oral Immunization With Plant-Based Vaccine Induces a Protective Response Against Infectious Bursal Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) is the etiological agent of an immunosuppressive and highly contagious disease that affects young birds causing important economic losses in the poultry industry worldwide. We have previously developed a plant-based

Analysis of the early immune response to infection by infectious bursal disease virus in chickens differing in their resistance to the disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Chicken whole-genome gene expression arrays were used to analyze the host response to infection by infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). Spleen and bursal tissue were examined from control and infected birds at 2, 3, and 4 days postinfection from two ...

The cellular receptors for infectious bursal disease virus

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2008
Virus receptors are simplistically defined as cell surface molecules that mediate binding (attachment, adsorption) and/or trigger membrane fusion or entry through other processes. Infectious bursal diseasevirus (IBDV) entry into host cells occurs by recognition of specific cellular receptor(s) with viral envelope glycoprotein, which comprises the ...
