This chapter gives an overview of multimodal information fusion from the machine-learning perspective. Humans interact with each other using different modalities of communication. These include speech, gestures, documents, etc. It is therefore natural that human-computer interaction (HCI) should facilitate the same multimodal form of communication.

Information Fusion Algorithm Enhancing Information Completeness
2009 Third International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing, 2009Through some examples, a new problem of the incomplete information in probability is advanced and analyzed, and the distinctness of the problem and other problems is analyzed. The algorithm to enhance completeness of information is given. The algorithm is validated at a certain extent, and other possible algorithms are eliminated.

Fusional information processing
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1988In binocular vision, owing to the geometrical perspective, the visual scene gives rise to two slightly different retinal images. The fusional mechanism is responsible for the unification of these retinal images to provide a single binocular image. The objective of this study is to investigate what strategy the fusional mechanism uses to unify the two ...

Context-based Information Fusion
2015The understanding and principled exploitation of context in Information Fusion (IF) systems is still rather limited. Domain knowledge has been traditionally acquired ad hoc from experts or static archives and applied to stove-piped solutions that could hardly scale or adapt to new conditions.
