Information granulation: percepts and their stability

Ninth IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems. FUZZ- IEEE 2000 (Cat. No.00CH37063), 2002
Introduces a notion of relevance (conceptual stability) of information granules. Granulation of data results in a series of chunks of information usually referred to as information granules. These information granules are basic building entities involved in the design of a broad class of systems.

Abstraction and specialization of information granules

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2001
In his paper, we introduce a model of generalization and specialization of information granules. The information granules themselves are modeled as fuzzy sets or fuzzy relations. The generalization is realized by or-ing fuzzy sets while the specialization is completed through logic and operation.

Approximation Spaces and Information Granulation

2004
In this paper, we discuss approximation spaces in a granular computing framework. Such approximation spaces generalise the approaches to concept approximation existing in rough set theory. Approximation spaces are constructed as higher level information granules and are obtained as the result of complex modelling.

Approximation of Information Granule Sets

2001
The aim of the paper is to present basic notions related to granular computing, namely the information granule syntax and semantics as well as the inclusion and closeness (similarity) relations of granules. In particular, we discuss how to define approximation d complex granule sets using the above notions.

Information Granules in Distributed Environment

1999
We propose to use complex information granules to extract patterns from data in distributed environment. These patterns can be treated as a generalization of association rules.

Accelerating ReliefF using information granulation

International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2021
Feature selection is an essential preprocessing requirement when solving a classification problem. In this respect, the Relief algorithm and its derivatives have been demonstrated to be a class of successful feature selectors. However, the computational cost of these algorithms is very high when large-scale datasets are processed. To solve this problem,

Information granule decomposition.

Fundam. Informaticae, 2001
Summary: Information sources provide us with granules of information that must be transformed, analyzed and built into structures that support problem solving. One of the main goals of information granule calculi is to develop algorithmic methods for construction of complex information granules from elementary ones by means of available operations and ...

Rough Sets and Information Granulation

2003
In this paper, the study of the evolution of approximation space theory and its applications is considered in the context of rough sets introduced by Zdzislaw Pawlak and information granulation as well as computing with words formulated by Lotfi Zadeh. Central to this evolution is the rough-mereological approach to approximation of information granules.
