Insights from home parenteral nutrition infusion data
Nutrition, 2023Patients with chronic intestinal failure use home parenteral nutrition infusion support. Non-compliance of home parenteral nutrition treatment is well documented, especially if clinical resources are remote. Objective delivery data from Infusion Pump reports have the potential to support treatment progress and planning.

Parenteral Nutrition and Infusion Technology
Engineering in Medicine, 1986Parenteral nutrition is used to support life during a period of intestinal failure when nutrients cannot be absorbed through the gastro-intestinal tract. Hypertonic solutions of amino-acids and glucose, with added vitamins, electrolytes, and trace elements, are administered, together with isotonic fat emulsions, directly into the superior vena cava or

Parenteral Glutamine Infusion Alters Insulin‐Mediated Glucose Metabolism
Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, 1998Background: Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid that is critical for many basic cellular processes. Its supplementation has been found to be beneficial during several critical illnesses. This study examines the effects of increased glutamine availability on insulin‐mediated glucose homeostasis in vivo in multicatheterized conscious ...

PROTRACTED PARENTERAL DRUG INFUSION IN AMBULATORY SUBJECTS USING AN IMPLANTABLE INFUSION PUMP
ASAIO Journal, 1977This study demonstrates the feasibility of ambulatory heparin therapy and its potential for successful treatment of refractory thromboembolic disease. The proven capability of the implantable infusion pump to provide long-term heparin infusion in ambulatory subjects suggests that it may have application in the delivery of other parenteral drugs as well.
