Simulation numérique du procédé de fabrication additive DED : résolution thermomécanique incrémentale complète et modèles réduits de type "inherent strain"

open access: yes, 2022
A thermo-mechanical finite element simulation is developed for additive manufacturing by directed energy deposition (DED). The simulation is conducted at the scale of the part, by modelling the progressive deposition of matter and the energy source.

THE EFFICACY OF THE INHERENT STRAIN METHOD IN DETERMINING RESIDUAL STRESS IN IN718 SLM SPECIMENS

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Industrial Engineering, 2021
This paper presents a study showing the efficacy of the inherent strain method and modifications thereof to predict residual stresses within selective laser melted components. Cubic specimens with variations in hatch rotations were produced, and the residual stress state was simulated and measured by employing the neutron diffraction technique ...

Development of a Practical Straightening Simulation for Welded Structures Using Inherent Strain Method

open access: yes, 2018
Welding is the most widely used assembly method available to industries in the construction of metal structures, ships, and offshore platforms. However, this method always produces a certain amount of distortion that will not only degrade the performance

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Simplified welding distortion analysis for fillet welding using composite shell elements

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
This paper presents the simplified welding distortion analysis method to predict the welding deformation of both plate and stiffener in fillet welds. Currently, the methods based on equivalent thermal strain like Strain as Direct Boundary (SDB) has been ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Estimating and Measuring Methods of Residual Stresses Using Inherent Strain Distribution Described as Functions(Report 1). Expression of Inherent strain in Form of Function and Its Estimation.

open access: yesQUARTERLY JOURNAL OF THE JAPAN WELDING SOCIETY, 1993
When three dimensional welding residual stresses are measured based on inherent strains using Finite Element Method, too many inherent strain components in elements have to be specified to express their distribution. If these are determined experimentally, measurements of elastic strains must be made for points more than the inherent strain components.
