Evaluation of thrombophilia testing in the inpatient setting: A single institution retrospective review.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
BackgroundThrombophilia workup is typically inappropriate in the inpatient setting as testing may be skewed by anticoagulation, acute thrombosis, or acute illness.ObjectiveTo determine adherence of inpatient thrombophilia testing with institutional ...

Complement inhibitory proteins expression in placentas of thrombophilic women Complement inhibitory proteins expression in placentas of thrombophilic women

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2012
Factors controlling complement activation appear to exert a protective effect on pregnancy. This is<br />particularly important in women with thrombophilia.

Venous thromboembolism and inherited thrombophilia

open access: yes, 2009

Assessing the Sensitivity and the Clinical Impact of the 2023 American College of Rheumatology/EULAR Classification Criteria in Obstetric Antiphospholid Syndrome: Findings From a Multicenter Italian Cohort With a Long‐Term Follow‐Up

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of the 2023 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/EULAR classification criteria for antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) in a real‐world cohort of women diagnosed with primary obstetric APS (oAPS) and to assess their ability to identify patients at risk of future pregnancy complications ...

Risk of venous thromboembolism after SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccination—Evidence from genome‐wide association study and population‐based observational study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim We aimed to investigate whether genetic variation is associated with venous thromboembolism after immunization with SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccines. Methods We conducted a genome‐wide association study (GWAS) on cases of venous thromboembolism within 42 days after SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccination, recruited from reports of adverse drug reactions sent to the Swedish ...

The role of d-dimer as first marker of thrombophilia in women affected by sterility: implications in pathophysiology and diagnosis of thrombophilia induced sterility

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2004
Background D-dimer is considered a marker of hypercoagulable state and of endogenous fibrinolysis, so increased d-dimer is detectable in patients affected by thrombosis.

Cardiovascular toxicity induced by TKIs in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia: Are women and men different?

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1447-1454, April 2025.
This study analyzes 148 patients (66 women and 82 men) with chronic myeloid leukemia treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, focusing on cardiovascular adverse events. The risk assessment, performed using the HFA/ICOS score, reveals sex‐specific differences: venous thrombosis is more common in women, while arterial thrombosis predominates in men.

Comparative frequency of Coagulation Factor II and Coagulation Factor V Alleles among new-born and senior citizens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Resistance to activated protein C is one of the most common inherited disorders associated with hereditary thrombophilia. A missense mutation in the gene coding for coagulation factor V (CF V Leiden) and which renders this procoagulant factor resistant ...
