Melanogenesis inhibitory compounds from Saussureae Radix

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2008
Ten compounds were isolated from the EtOAc soluble part of the MeOH extract of Saussureae Radix, with their effects on melanin production also evaluated in B-16 mouse melanoma cell lines stimulated with 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX), an elevator of cellular cAMP.

Diacylglycerol acyltransferase-inhibitory compounds from Erythrina senegalensis

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2009
Inhibition of acyl CoA:diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) is proposed to be a drug target for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Bioassay-guided fractionation of the CH(2)Cl(2)-soluble extract of the stem bark of Erythrina senegalensis, using an in vitro DGAT enzyme assay, resulted in the isolation of eight known prenylflavonoids, 8 ...

Phytogrowth-Inhibitory Compounds from Malmea depressa

Journal of Natural Products, 1996
Fractionation of the CHCl3 extract of the stem bark of Malmea depressa, guided by phytogrowth-inhibitory bioassays, led to the isolation of four known phenylpropanoids:  1,2,3,4-tetramethoxy-5-(2-p...

Aldose Reductase Inhibitory Compounds from Xanthium strumarium

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2013
As part of our ongoing search for natural sources of therapeutic and preventive agents for diabetic complications, we evaluated the inhibitory effects of components of the fruit of Xanthium strumarium (X. strumarium) on aldose reductase (AR) and galactitol formation in rat lenses with high levels of glucose.

Quorum-Sensing Inhibitory Compounds

2007
Biofilm formation plays an important role in antimicrobial resistance, posing a global threat to the economy and public health. Hence, discovery of novel antagonists is critical. In this chapter, we introduce a class of compounds, brominated furanones, which have a broad spectrum of activities against bacterial multicellular behaviors, such as biofilm ...

Inhibitory action of some compounds on staphylococcal coagulase

Experientia, 1960
