Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Correlation of perfusion index change and analgesic efficacy in transforaminal steroid injection for lumbosacral pain, a prospective observational study

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia
Background and Aims: Low back pain is a common problem and a major burden to society. Transforaminal epidural steroid injection is one of the most effective treatment modalities for back pain.

Unipolar and bipolar fatigue in antiferroelectric lead zirconate thin films and evidences for switching-induced charge injection inducing fatigue

open access: yes, 2010
For the first time, we show that unipolar fatigue does occur in antiferroelectric capacitors, confirming the predictions of a previous work [Appl. Phys. Lett., 94, 072901 (2009)].

Dietary nitrate and nitrite protect against doxorubicin‐induced cardiac fibrosis and oxidative protein damage in tumor‐bearing mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapies such as doxorubicin can have toxic effects on healthy cardiovascular/heart tissue. Following up on a doxorubicin toxicity study in mice without tumors where nitrate water was cardioprotective (lessened toxicity), this study with tumor‐bearing mice undergoing doxorubicin treatment showed no negative effect of nitrate and nitrite on drug ...

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections in Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability: A Case Series

open access: yesBiomedicines
The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) approach may be an effective treatment for joint and cartilage pathologies. However, the rationale for its effectiveness on joint instability is limited.

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Optimizing injection accuracy for Baxter’s nerve entrapment: an ultrasonography-guided approach based on anatomical surface landmarks

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine
Introduction The clinical feasibility and applicability of surface landmarks for Baxter nerve entrapment to proximal and distal sites is unclear. This study provides anatomical guidelines for optimal transducer placement using two specific landmarks, the

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.
