Influencing factors of supercritical carbon dioxide huff and puff to enhance shale oil recovery

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
At present, the CO2 huff and puff method is mainly used in international oilfields to improve the recovery of shale reservoirs. However, challenges arise during the development stage of high-cycle huff and puff, including poor boundary physical ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

High Pressure Injection Injury of the Hand [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Surgery, 2012
High pressure injection injury of the hand looks rather innocuous but has the potential of affecting the function. The radiological picture is quite alarming and it gives a fair idea about the extent of the damage. The description and the images which follow, emphasize the need for an early and aggressive surgical debridement for a good functional ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Performance Comparison of the Vapor-Injection Cycle in Terms of Branching Points of the Injection Stream

open access: yes, 2012
The performance of the two types of vapor-injection (VI) cycles in a heat pump system is compared. The vapor-injection cycle using an internal heat exchanger (IHX) has a choice to select the branching point of the injection stream.
