Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Innovation and Innovation Systems: relevance for the area of health - DOI: 10.3395/reciis.v1i1.41en
In the final decades of the 20th century, renewed attention began to be paid to processes of generating, diffusing and using knowledge. Various analytical and normative approaches have been developed to try and understand and guide these processes.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

A Systemic Approach to Innovation
The context of this chapter is set by the contemporary transition from an industrial to a knowledge-based economy. OECD (1996a) has documented the way in which the knowledge-based economy of learning individuals, organisations and economies is emerging out of the machine-based economy that determined advanced economies in most of the time in the 20th ...

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.
