Physical descriptor for the Gibbs energy of inorganic crystalline solids and temperature-dependent materials chemistry [PDF]
The Gibbs energy, G, determines the equilibrium conditions of chemical reactions and materials stability. Despite this fundamental and ubiquitous role, G has been tabulated for only a small fraction of known inorganic compounds, impeding a comprehensive ...

Exploration of H2 binding to the [NiFe]-hydrogenase active site with multiconfigurational density functional theory [PDF]
The combination of density functional theory (DFT) with a multiconfigurational wave function is an efficient way to include dynamical correlation in calculations with multiconfiguration self-consistent field wave functions. These methods can potentially be employed to elucidate reaction mechanisms in bio-inorganic chemistry, where many other methods ...

Reduced Barrier for Ion Migration in Mixed-Halide Perovskites. [PDF]
Halide alloying in metal halide perovskites is a useful tool for optoelectronic applications requiring a specific bandgap. However, mixed-halide perovskites show ion migration in the perovskite layer, leading to phase segregation and reducing the long ...

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Photophysics of Two-Dimensional Semiconducting Organic-Inorganic Metal-Halide Perovskites [PDF]
2D organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (2DHPs) consist of alternating anionic metal-halide and cationic organic layers. They have widely tunable structural and optical properties. We review the role of the organic cation in defining the structural and optical properties of 2DHPs through example lead iodide 2DHPs.
