Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) arises as a consequence of mutations of the genes PKD1 and PKD2, encoding respectively the integral membrane proteins polycystin-1 and polycystin-2 (TRPP2), resulting in a disturbance in intracellular ...

Patterns of Acute Liver Injury and Post‐Acute Liver Sequelae of COVID‐19
ABSTRACT Background Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) is known to cause acute liver injury (ALI) in COVID‐19 patients. This study explores the association between ALI patterns and the occurrence of long‐term hepatic complications in patients with and without existing chronic liver disease (CLD).

DHCR24 Alleviates DNA Damage in Senescent Vascular Endothelial Cells via ENKUR/Ca2+ Signaling
In senescent vascular endothelial cells, DHCR24 deficiency triggers ENKUR‐dependent Ca2+ overload, which in turn induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, ultimately exacerbating oxidative stress and DNA damage. ABSTRACT DNA damage is considered one of the major contributors to aging.

Synthesis of myo-Inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate and myo-Inositol-1,4-bisphosphate
Racemic myo-inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate and myo-inositol-1,4-bisphosphate, which are respectively a second messenger mobilizing Ca2+ and its physiological metabolite in the intracellular signal transduction pathway, were synthesized from myo-inositol ...

Studies on ion movements in Malpighian tubules of Locusta migratoria L., with particular reference to their endocrine control [PDF]
Intracellular microelectrodes were used in conjunction with ion substitution, agonists and inhibitors of known transport processes and diuretic hormone (DH), to investigate the mechanisms whereby ions cross the basal and apical cell membranes of the ...
