On the simulation of infiltration- and saturation-excess runoff using radar-based rainfall estimates: Effects of algorithm uncertainty and pixel aggregation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The effects of uncertainty in radar-estimated precipitation input on simulated runoff generation from a medium-sized (100-km2) basin in northern Texas are investigated.

Kaon and antikaon properties in cold nuclear medium

open access: yes, 2004
We present results of a self-consistent calculation for the kaon and antikaon spectral functions in cold nuclear matter, using as input the kaon-nucleon and antikaon-nucleon scattering amplitudes of the vacuum. We investigate the effect of in-medium pion

CGC/saturation approach for soft interactions at high energy: a two channel model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we continue the development of a model for strong interactions at high energy, based on two ingredients: CGC/saturation approach and the BFKL Pomeron.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Anti‐Saturation Sliding Mode Synchronization Control for Multi‐Motor Systems Under Saturation Constraints

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
To address the issue of synchronisation control for multi‐motor intelligent gaming systems under saturation constraints and parameter uncertainty, an anti‐saturation sliding mode control algorithm is proposed.

W-band waveguide-packaged InP HEMT reflection grid amplifier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This letter presents a 79-GHz broadband reflection-type grid amplifier using spatial power combining to combine the power of 64 unit cells. Each unit cell uses a two-stage cascade configuration with InP HEMTs arranged as a differential pair.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Adaptive Antidisturbance Stabilization of Active Helideck Systems with Prescribed Performance via Saturation-Triggered Boundaries

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Active helidecks systems (AHS) provide an effective solution scheme for the safe landing of helicopters on ships. This article proposes a novel adaptive antidisturbance prescribed performance control law of AHS subject to input saturation, ship motion ...

Pile-Soil Interaction in Unsaturated Soil Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The degree of saturation has been proven to significantly affect geotechnical engineering designs for foundations. The changes in water content will influence the way the soil behaves, including its strength and stiffness parameters.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
