Dietary fibre intake and lifestyle characteristics in relation to nausea or vomiting during pregnancy—a questionnaire-based cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2022
Nausea or vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) are among the commonest symptoms experienced in early pregnancy. We wanted to evaluate the association of dietary fibre intake, lifestyle characteristics and bowel function with NVP.

Mechanical Programming of PEGDA‐β‐CD Polyrotaxane‐Based Hydrogels via Host–Guest Molecular Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable hydrogel for tissue engineering is developed by modulating the molecular threading density of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate‐β‐cyclodextrin (PEGDA‐β‐CD) polyrotaxane and combining it with β‐CD‐modified gelatin. The polyrotaxane‐guided transition from disordered pores to laminar microstructures enables precise tuning ...

Evaluation of chemical composition, fibre fractions and carbohydrate and protein partitioning of paddy straw, Guinea grass, and hybrid Napier (CO5)

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences
The nutritional evaluation of fodder resources is essential for optimising ruminant feeding strategies. This study assessed the chemical composition, fibre fractions and CNCPS (Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System) carbohydrate and protein ...

Advances in Solution‐Processed Textile Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Ink Formation, Processing Strategies, Applications, and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced ink systems for solution‐processed textile triboelectric nanogenerators are systematically summarized, spanning conductive, tribo‐negative, and tribo‐positive layers. By connecting ink chemistry, deposition methods, and device function, the present review reveals the key governing principles of solution development and highlights practical ...

Improvement of the functionality of a potential fruit insoluble fibre by micron technology

open access: yes, 2014
An insoluble food fibre was micronised to different microsizes (6.77-29.5 mu m) by three different micron technologies using optimised conditions. The effects of different micronisation treatments and particle sizes on the characteristics and various ...

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Bilberry and bilberry press cake as sources of dietary fibre

open access: yesFood & Nutrition Research, 2015
Background: Dietary recommendations for Nordic countries urge the use of plant foods as a basis for healthy nutrition. Currently, the level of dietary fibre (DF) intake is not adequate.

Soluble and Insoluble Dietary Fibre in Date Fruit Varieties: An Evaluation of Methods and Their Implications for Human Health

open access: yesFoods, 2023
Dietary fibre analysis is expensive due to its reliance on enzymes such as α-amylase, protease, and amyloglucosidase. This study investigated whether enzymes are essential in analysing insoluble, soluble, and total dietary fibre (IDF, SDF and TDF ...

Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.

Clustomesogen Showing Sub‐Zero Liquid Crystal Properties: Supramolecular Assembly Between Cs2[Mo6Ii8(OCOC2F5)6] and Hexaethylenoxide Containing Mesogenic Dimers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Associating a red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral hexanuclear molybdenum cluster compound with hexaethyleneoxide chains bearing mesogenic units on both ends leads to an emissive hybrid liquid crystal showing mesomorphism on a very unusual temperature range down to −25°C.
