MicroRNA-145 Impairs Classical Non-Homologous End-Joining in Response to Ionizing Radiation-Induced DNA Double-Strand Breaks via Targeting DNA-PKcs

open access: yesCells, 2022
DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are one of the most lethal types of DNA damage due to the fact that unrepaired or mis-repaired DSBs lead to genomic instability or chromosomal aberrations, thereby causing cell death or tumorigenesis.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

A prediction model for surface deformation caused by underground mining based on spatio-temporal associations

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2022
Accurate predictions of the surface deformation caused by underground mining are crucial for the safe development of underground resources. Although surface deformation has been predicted by artificial intelligence (AI) methods, most AI models are ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Analysis of Surface Runoff and Ponding Infiltration Patterns Induced by Underground Block Caving Mining—A Case Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Surface subsidence induced by underground mining in mining areas significantly alters surface topography and hydrogeological conditions, forming depressions and fissures, thereby affecting regional runoff-ponding processes and groundwater infiltration ...

ID3 regulates the MDC1-mediated DNA damage response in order to maintain genome stability

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
MDC1 is a key component of the DNA damage response and interacts with several factors such as γ-H2AX. Here the authors show that MDC1 interacts with ID3, facilitating MDC1 recruitment to sites of damage and repair of breaks.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Integrated Physical Microstructure and Mechanical Performance Analysis of the Failure Mechanism of Weakly Cemented Sandstone Under Long-Term Water Immersion

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The duration of water immersion significantly affects the mechanical response of rock materials. This study investigated the weakly cemented sandstone from the Wulagen Open-pit Mine to examine how varying immersion times affected the mineral composition,

Experimental and numerical evaluation on debonding of fully grouted rockbolt under pull-out loading

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology, 2022
The axial loading in rockbolts changes due to stress redistribution and rheology in the country rock mass. Such a change may lead to debonding at rockbolt to grout interface or rupture of the rockbolt.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.
