Turkish adaptation of a self-report measure for current achievement: the Current Motivation Questionnaire

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
The absence of a valid and reliable instrument to measure situational motivation in the Turkish context highlights the need for adapting the Current Motivation Questionnaire (QCM).

Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the Brazilian version of the Reading Anxiety Scale: Short version [PDF]

open access: yesEstudos de Psicologia (Campinas), 2019
Reading anxiety refers to a negative emotional reaction to the reading process that causes the individual to avoid activities involving reading. To date, there are no instruments to evaluate this construct validated for Brazilian children.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Self-Regulated Online Learning Instrument Adaptation: A Measurement Model

open access: yesJournal of Learning for Development
Self-regulated online learning (SOL) is the self-regulation of students who study independently in online learning. Jansen et al. (2016) show that self-regulated online learning (SOL) has five dimensions or factors: 1) metacognitive skills, 2) time ...

Adaptation and validation of the instrument positions on the nursing process [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem, 2013
OBJECTIVE: estimate the psychometric properties in the adaptation of the instrument Positions on Nursing Diagnosis to assess nursing staff members' attitudes towards the nursing process. METHOD: methodological study with a non-probabilistic sample of 973 nursing assistants and 632 baccalaureate nurses from 35 hospitals and outpatient clinics affiliated

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
