On the Theory of an Integral Equation

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 1994
The main object of the study in the paper is the following integral equation (1) \(x(t) = f(t) - \mu \int^ \infty_ 0 K(\tau) \text{sign} [x(t - \tau)] d \tau\). Here it is assumed that \(\mu \geq 0\), \(f\) is a continuous function having only isolated zeros \(t_ k\) such that \(f'(t_ k) \neq 0\) for \(k=1,2, \dots\). Moreover, the kernel function \(K\)

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Integral equations for conical diffraction by coated grating

open access: yes, 2011
The paper is devoted to integral formulations for the scattering of plane waves by diffraction gratings under oblique incidence. For the case of coated gratings Maxwell's equations can be reduced to a system of four singular integral equations on the ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Solving linear Fredholm-Stieltjes integral equations of the second kind by using the generalized Simpson’s rule

open access: yesMANAS: Journal of Engineering, 2016
In this paper, the generalized Simpson's rule (GSR) is applied to solve linear Fredholm-Stieltjes integral equations of the second kind (LFSIESK). A numerical example is presented to illustrate the method by using Maple.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Expansion of the boundaries of the solutions of the linear Volterra integral equations with convolution kernel

open access: yes, 2002
Some boundaries about the solution of the second type linear Volterra integral equations with unit source term and with positive monotonically increasing convolution kernel were given by R. Ling [2], [3]. In this work, a method which ensures axpansion of
