Integrated Chassis Control for Improved Braking Performance on Rough Roads
2020The deterioration of ABS braking performance on rough roads is well established in the literature. Large variations in tyre normal force during braking is one of the main contributors to this deterioration. Reducing the tyre normal force variation by controlling the suspension characteristics may thus improve the braking performance on rough roads ...

Improvements in vehicle handling through integrated control of chassis systems
International Journal of Vehicle Autonomous Systems, 2002In this paper methods of improving vehicle stability and emergency handling using electronically controlled chassis systems are discussed. By analysing a simple nonlinear vehicle model in the yaw plane, it is shown that vehicles can become unstable during portions of handling manoeuvres performed at or close to the limit of adhesion.

Decoupling control of chassis integrated system for electric wheel vehicle
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2019In order to eliminate the mutual interferences among the differential assist steering system, the active suspension system and the electrical stability control, this paper proposes a sliding mode decoupling control strategy based on the inverse system method for the electric wheel vehicle.

Design of Integrated Vehicle Chassis Control Based on LPV Methods
2012The aim of this chapter is to present a multilayer supervisory architecture for the design and development of reconfigurable and integrated control systems in road vehicles. The individual performance specifications are guaranteed by the local controllers, while the coordination of these components is provided by the supervisor in order to meet global ...

Development of Integrated Chassis Control System for Vehicle Handling Enhancement
ASME 2008 Dynamic Systems and Control Conference, Parts A and B, 2008Various active chassis control systems have been developed to improve vehicle handling and stability. Brake-based electronic stability programs and advanced driveline technologies can distribute different wheel torque to all four wheels to regulate vehicle motion.
