Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Global Integrity Report: West Bank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Highlights: The West Bank faces serious problems with its governance and anti-corruption framework, not surprising given the territory's conflict-riddled history. Civil society, government accountability, administration and civil service, and the rule of

Radiometric Wireless Sensor Network Monitoring of Partial Discharge Sources in Electrical Substations

open access: yes, 2015
A wireless sensor network (WSN) with the potential to monitor and locate partial discharge (PD) in high-voltage electricity substations using only received signal strength (RSS) is proposed.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Research on GNSS/INS Tightly Coupled Integrity Monitoring Method Based on State Augmentation Error Modeling

open access: yesRemote Sensing
In urban environments with signal blockage and multipath effects, GNSS observation errors often exhibit temporal correlation. The Gaussian white noise assumption adopted in conventional tightly coupled Kalman filtering is prone to model mismatch under ...

An integrated structural health monitoring approach to composite-based pipeline repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
One of the most common problems in the structural integrity of industrial pipelines is external corrosion. Composite materials have been accepted as a repair option to restore the original strength of the effected damaged section but the approach to ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics
