Antibiotic Resistance and Pathogenicity of Vibrio Species in Aquaculture: Implications for Fish Health and Food Safety in LMICs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Pathogenic Vibrio species isolated from aquaculture environments in low‐ and middle‐income countries exhibit elevated antimicrobial resistance and multiple virulence traits. These findings highlight significant risks to fish health and food safety, underscoring the need for strengthened antimicrobial stewardship, robust biosecurity measures and ...

The contribution of Escherichia coli from human and animal sources to the integron gene pool in coastal waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
To understand the contribution of animal- and human-derived fecal pollution sources in shaping integron prevalence and diversity in beach waters, 414 Escherichia coli strains were collected from beach waters (BW, n = 166), seagull feces (SF, n = 179 ...

Marginal Tax Rates of Canadian Public Firms and the Applicability of Marginal Tax Rates in Corporate Decisions*

open access: yesAccounting Perspectives, Volume 25, Issue 1, Page 55-93, March 2026.
ABSTRACT While several US studies demonstrate the importance of using marginal tax rates (MTRs) to study corporate decisions and tax incentives, research using MTR in the Canadian setting is limited. The MTR literature has made several improvements on the estimation process using US firms, but these advances have not been made available for Canadian ...

Antimicrobial Resistance in Salmonella Across Aquaculture, Seafood and Related Aquatic Environments: A Scoping Review With Exploratory Textual Analysis

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 2, March 2026.
This scoping review with textual analysis maps antimicrobial resistance in Salmonella across aquaculture, seafood, and related aquatic environments. Across 93 studies, recurrent MDR patterns suggest sentinel serotypes (S. Typhimurium, S. Newport) and a minimal antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) panel to guide matrix‐stratified One Health ...

Characterization of fluoroquinolone resistance and qnr diversity in Enterobacteriaceae from municipal biosolids.

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Municipal biosolids produced during activated sludge treatment applied in waste water treatment plants, are significant reservoirs of antibiotic resistance, since they assemble both natural and fecal microbiota, as well as residual concentrations of ...

Sequencing of blaIMP-Carrying IncN2 Plasmids, and Comparative Genomics of IncN2 Plasmids Harboring Class 1 Integrons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work presents the complete nucleotide sequences of p0801-IMP from Klebsiella pneumoniae, p7121-IMP from K. oxytoca, and p17285-IMP from Citrobacter freundii, which are recovered from three different cases of nosocomial infection.

Validation of Hexaplex Recombinase Polymerase Amplification Assay for the Detection of Carbapenemase Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates From Pediatric Inpatients

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 4, February 2026.
A novel hexaplex recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) method was developed to rapidly and accurately detect five key carbapenemase genes and a Klebsiella pneumoniae‐specific target in a single reaction. This makes it an effective tool for CRKP detection in resource‐constrained environments.

Antimicrobial Resistance Pattern and Prevalence of Class 1, 2, and 3 Integrons in Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae in Loghman-E Hakim Hospital, Tehran

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2015
Background and Objective: Multiple drug resistance has increased in recent years in Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates. The Integrons are mobile genetic elements that carry antibiotics resistance genes.
