PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Feedback system for divertor impurity seeding based on real-time measurements of surface heat flux in the Alcator C-Mod tokamak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Mitigation of the intense heat flux to the divertor is one of the outstanding problems in fusion energy. One technique that has shown promise is impurity seeding, i.e., the injection of low-Z gaseous impurities (typically N2 or Ne) to radiate and ...

Twenty Years of Thermal Infrared Observations (2004–2024) at Campi Flegrei Caldera (Italy) by the Permanent Surveillance Ground Network of INGV-Osservatorio Vesuviano

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Thermal infrared (TIR) time series images acquired by ground, proximal TIR stations provide valuable data to study evolution of surface temperature fields of diffuse degassing volcanic areas.

A thermodynamic diagnostic model for the atmosphere. Part I: Analysis of the August 1991 rain episode in Austria

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 1992
A diagnostic model (acronym DIAMOD) for the free atmosphere is described. Core of DIAMOD is a module which calculates complete thermodynamic budgets of latent and sensible heat, including objective imbalance estimates.

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Submesoscale Vertical Heat Flux Amplifies a Cross‐Scale Positive Feedback in the Western Arabian Sea

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
High‐resolution simulations reveal that summer monsoon‐induced upwelling in the western Arabian Sea triggers vigorous submesoscale vertical heat flux (SVHF), challenging the conventional view of winter‐dominant submesoscale activity in open‐ocean ...

Dynamics of stratospheric wave reflection over the North Pacific [PDF]

open access: yesWeather and Climate Dynamics
Stratospheric wave reflection events involve the upward propagation of planetary waves, which are subsequently reflected downward by the stratospheric polar vortex.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Hydrography and flow in the rift valley of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

open access: yes, 2000
Slow-spreading mid-ocean ridges such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge are characterized by deep axial rift valleys which are isolated from the water on the ridge flanks.
