A VCSEL based system for on-site monitoring of low level methane emission [PDF]
Continuous monitoring of methane emissions has assumed greater significance in the recent past due to increasing focus on global warming issues. Many industries have also identified the need for ppm level methane measurement as a means of gaining carbon ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The performances comparison of ROF systems based on intensity modulation and phase modulation
According to the researches of transmitting downlink signal based on optical carrier suppression, we demonstrate two different ROF systems, one is based on intensity modulation to suppress the optical carrier, another is using phase modulation to ...

Direct intensity modulation of resonant-tunneling-diode terahertz oscillator up to ∼30 GHz
: We proposed and fabricated resonant-tunneling-diode (RTD) terahertz (THz) oscillators with a structure for high-frequency direct modulation, which is useful for high-capacity THz wireless communications.

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Wavelength modulation spectroscopy: combined frequency and intensity laser modulation [PDF]
A theoretical model of wavelength modulation spectroscopy that uses a laser diode on a Lorentzian absorption line is presented. This theory describes the general case of a current-modulated semiconductor laser for which a combined intensity and frequency

Power Efficient Subcarrier Modulation for Intensity Modulated Channels
We compare formats for optical intensity modulation limited by thermal noise with the assumption of having ideal devices. At the same bitrate and bandwidth, a hitherto unknown format turns out to be more power efficient than known formats. This new modulation, which is a hybrid between on-off keying and phase-shift keying, belongs to the subcarrier ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
