Balanced Interaction Design [PDF]

open access: yesExtended Abstracts of the 2018 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2018
Over the last two decades, creative, agile, lean and strategic design approaches have become increasingly prevalent in the development of interactive technologies, but tensions exist with longer established approaches such as human factors engineering and user-centered design. These tensions can be harnessed productively by first giving equal status in

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

From When to When: Evaluating Naturalness of Reaction Time via Viewing Turn around Behaviors

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper addresses the effects of visual reaction times of a turn around behavior toward touch stimulus in the context of perceived naturalness. People essentially prefer a quick and natural reaction time to interaction partners, but appropriate ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Optimizing the conceptual design process of animation scenes using generative AI

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
Generative AI, with its rapidly developing technologies, has changed how designers look to solve problems relating to the scene’s animation: eliminating inefficiencies, reducing high production costs, and lifting the cognitive load involved in the ...

Nature and role of intermediate representation (IR) in the design process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper aims to show the key role of the intermediate representations (IR) in the design process and especially in the car design process. For a better understanding of the concept of design, which is by nature conceptual, we propose to study the ...

Interaction Design and Children [PDF]

open access: yesFoundations and Trends® in Human–Computer Interaction, 2008
Children are increasingly using computer technologies as reflected in reports of computer use in schools in the United States. Given the greater exposure of children to these technologies, it is imperative that they be designed taking into account children’s abilities, interests, and developmental needs.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A structured Kano-AHP framework for AI-assisted generative media production: experimental evidence from short-form animation design

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
Although generative AI has accelerated parts of media production, the quality of final outputs still depends on how clearly requirements are defined, prioritized, and maintained across prompting, revision, and selection. This study evaluates a structured
