A coupled interface-body nonlocal damage model for the analysis of FRP strengthening detachment from cohesive material [PDF]
In the present work, a new model of the FRP-concrete or masonry interface, which accounts for the coupling occurring between the degradation of the cohesive material and the FRP detachment, is presented; in particular, a coupled interface-body nonlocal ...

BEM solution of delamination problems using an interface damage and plasticity model
The problem of quasistatic and rate-independent evolution of elastic-plastic-brittle delamination at small strains is considered. Delamination processes for linear elastic bodies glued by an adhesive to each other or to a rigid outer surface are studied.

(Invited) towards a vertical and damage free post-etch InGaAs fin profile: dry etch processing, sidewall damage assessment and mitigation options [PDF]
Based on current projections, III-Vs are expected to replace Si as the n-channel solution in FinFETs at the 7nm technology node. The realisation of III-V FinFETs entails top-down fabrication via dry etch techniques. Vertical fins in conjunction with high

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The particle/matrix interface of metal matrix composites (MMCs) can give rise to extra strength and then affect the local deformation behavior. This strengthening effect originates from the plastic strain gradients due to the incompatibility of plastic ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Boundary integral formulation for interfacial cracks in thermodiffusive bimaterials
An original boundary integral formulation is proposed for the problem of a semi-infinite crack at the interface between two dissimilar elastic materials in the presence of heat flows and mass diffusion.
