Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

One dimensional edge localized YSR states in CrCl3 on NbSe2

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials
Magnet/superconductor hybrid systems have been put forward as a platform for realizing topological superconductivity. We investigated the heterostructure of ferromagnetic monolayer CrCl3 and superconducting NbSe2. Using low-temperature scanning tunneling

A Systematic Review of Virtual Reality Interfaces for Controlling and Interacting with Robots

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
There is a significant amount of synergy between virtual reality (VR) and the field of robotics. However, it has only been in approximately the past five years that commercial immersive VR devices have been available to developers.

Phosphorylation at the Interface [PDF]

open access: yesStructure, 2011
Proteomic studies have identified thousands of eukaryotic phosphorylation sites (phosphosites), but few are functionally characterized. Nishi et al., in this issue of Structure, characterize phosphosites at protein-protein interfaces and estimate the effect of their phosphorylation on interaction affinity, by combining proteomics data with protein ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Signal averaging in cryogenic fast-field-cycling NMR experiments

open access: yesScientific Reports
The spin-lattice relaxation time constant $$T_1$$ characterizes the equilibration of a spin system in a magnetic field with its environment, the lattice. Fast-field-cycling (FFC) relaxometry is dedicated to $$T_1$$ measurements at low field.

Publisher Correction: Charging dynamics of an individual nanopore

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The original version of this Article contained an error throughout in which an incorrect symbol was used for the diffusion coefficient: it should be cambria math, italicized, and not bold.

A Wireless Future: performance art, interaction and the brain-computer interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Although the use of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) in the arts originates in the 1960s, there is a limited number of known applications in the context of real-time audio-visual and mixed-media performances and accordingly the knowledge base of this ...

Implementation and analysis of several keyframe-based browsing interfaces to digital video [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper we present a variety of browsing interfaces for digital video information. The six interfaces are implemented on top of Físchlár, an operational recording, indexing, browsing and playback system for broadcast TV programmes.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.
