Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Fully Adaptive Lattice-based Notch Filter for Mitigation of Interference in GPS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Intentional interference presents a major threat to the operation of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Adaptive notch filtering provides an excellent countermeasure and deterrence against narrowband interference.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Mitigation methods and their applicability for DC stray current interference

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2016
Through indoor simulated experimental equipment, mitigation methods which contained the bond resistor method, galvanic anode method and metallic shield method were studied to mitigate DC stray current interference caused by the impressed current cathodic ...

Interference Mitigation via Joint Detection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2011
This paper addresses the design of optimal and near-optimal detectors in an interference channel with fading and with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), where the transmitters employ discrete modulation schemes as in practical communication scenarios. The conventional detectors typically either ignore the interference or successively detect and then

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Heterogeneous RFI Mitigation in Image-Domain via Subimage Segmentation and Local Frequency Feature Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Radio frequency interference (RFI) may degrade the quality of remote sensing images acquired by spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). In the interferometric wide-swath mode of the Sentinel-1 satellite, the SAR receiver may capture multiple types of ...

Antiference: New Concept for Evolutive Mitigation of RFI to GNSS

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
The past decade has shown a growing awareness of the dangers of intentional interference (especially jamming and spoofing) with GNSS signals. The Antiference project uses reconfigurable digital signal processing methods in the detection, classification ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
