IL-33 induces NF-κB activation in ILC2 that can be suppressed by in vivo and ex vivo 17β-estradiol

open access: yesFrontiers in Allergy, 2022
Asthmatic women tend to develop severe airway disease in their reproductive years, and 30%–40% of asthmatic women have peri-menstrual worsening of asthma symptoms.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cells With Modified Interleukin-13 Preferentially Recognize IL13Rα2 and Suppress Malignant Glioma: A Preclinical Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
BackgroundInterleukin-13 receptor α 2 (IL13Rα2) is a promising tumor-directed antigen of malignant glioma (MG). Here, we examine the efficacy and safety of T cells containing a YYB-103 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that can preferentially bind to ...

Interleukin-4 and Interleukin-13 Exacerbate Neurotoxicity of Prothrombin Kringle-2 in Cortex In Vivo via Oxidative Stress

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
The present study investigated the effects of activated microglia-derived interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-13 on neurodegeneration in prothrombin kringle-2 (pKr-2)-treated rat cortex. pKr-2 was unilaterally injected into the Sprague–Dawley rat cerebral cortex

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Interleukin-13 Is Unlucky for Allergy Sufferers [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Pharmacological Sciences, 2019
Anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction, is dependent on high affinity allergen-specific IgE. Gowthaman et al. now show that a new interleukin (IL)-13-expressing T helper cell subset specifically promotes high-affinity IgE responses. The discovery of T follicular helper (Tfh)13 cells defines potential new targets for allergy therapies.

Interleukin-13 in Asthma and Other Eosinophilic Disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2017
Asthma is characterized by episodic, reversible airflow obstruction associated with variable levels of inflammation. Over the past several decades, there has been an increasing appreciation that the clinical presentation of asthma comprises a diverse set

Significance of Interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 in Inflammatory Arthritis

open access: yesCells, 2021
Interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 belong to the T helper 2 (Th2) cytokine family, along with IL-3, IL-5, and IL-9. These cytokines are key mediators of allergic inflammation.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Relation between interleukin-13 gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to brucellosis in Iranian population

open access: yesTrends in Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2016
Brucella is an intracellular Gram-negative bacterium. Previous reports showed that gene polymorphisms of cytokines can affect resistance or susceptibility to Brucella infection.
