Contribution of interleukin-1beta in neuropathic pain

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2013
Interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, has been implicated in the development of peripheral and central sensitization that is charactistic of neuropathic pain. Recent studies demonstrated that IL-1β is an important messenger that is interacted with glia and neurons in the central neurous system in the neuropathic pain states.

IL-1beta promotes the age-associated decline of beta cell function

open access: yesiScience, 2021
Summary: Aging is the prime risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes. We investigated the role of the interleukin-1 (IL-1) system on insulin secretion in aged mice.

Total Triterpenes of Wolfiporia cocos (Schwein.) Ryvarden & Gilb Exerts Antidepressant-Like Effects in a Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress Rat Model and Regulates the Levels of Neurotransmitters, HPA Axis and NLRP3 Pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Purpose:Wolfiporia cocos is frequently used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat depression. However, antidepressant-like effects of the main active ingredients of Wolfiporia cocos, total triterpenes of Wolfiporia cocos (TTWC), are not well studied ...

Interleukin 1-beta analysis in chronically inflamed and healthy human dental pulp [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2017
Background/Aim. Proinflammatory cytokines can act like endogenous pyrogen interleukin 1 (IL-1), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF α) which regulate the synthesis of secondary mediators and other proinflammatory cytokines through ...

Impaired interleukin-1beta and c-Fos expression in the hippocampus is associated with a spatial memory deficit in P2X(7) receptor-deficient mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Recent evidence suggests that interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta), which was originally identified as a proinflammatory cytokine, is also required in the brain for memory processes.

GINGIVAL TISSUE IL-1beta AND PGE2 LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC PERIODONTITIS AFTER ADDITIONAL THERAPY WITH NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of IMAB, 2010
Background: The understanding of the pathogenesis of periodontitis makes various progresses in the last decades. Today it is well known that the synthesis of high levels of pro-inflammatory mediators from gingival tissues in response to ...

Effects of N-acetylcysteine on the inflammatory response and bacterial translocation in a model of intestinal obstruction and ischemia in rats

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2023
Purpose: To evaluate effect of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) associated with Ringer lactate or hypertonic saline in inflammation and bacterial translocation on experimental intestinal obstruction (IO). Methods: Wistar rats was subjected to IO.

Malarial hemozoin activates the NLRP3 inflammasome through Lyn and Syk kinases. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2009
The intraerythrocytic parasite Plasmodium -- the causative agent of malaria -- produces an inorganic crystal called hemozoin (Hz) during the heme detoxification process, which is released into the circulation during erythrocyte lysis.

The Association Between Shift Work and Immunological Biomarkers in Nurses

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2020
Objectives: Shift work is associated with several negative health effects. The underlying pathophysiological mechanisms are unclear, but low-grade inflammation has been suggested to play a role.
