Marked Long‐Term Improvement in Lung Function in Melanoma Differentiation–Associated Protein 5 Antibody–Positive Dermatomyositis Patients: Experience of a Single‐Center Longitudinal Cohort in North America

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The objective of this study was to describe the longitudinal disease course and pulmonary outcomes of North American patients with melanoma differentiation–associated protein 5 (MDA5) antibody–associated dermatomyositis (DM). Methods Thirty patients with MDA5 antibody–associated DM were identified in a single‐center longitudinal cohort of 352

Safety and potential efficacy of cyclooxygenase‐2 inhibitors in coronavirus disease 2019

open access: yesClinical & Translational Immunology, 2020
Objectives While the safety of non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs in COVID‐19 has been questioned, they may be beneficial given the hyper‐inflammatory immune response associated with severe disease. We aimed to assess the safety and potential efficacy

Inhibitor of biological effects of interleukin-6 sarilumab in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesMedical Council, 2019
Despite progress in pharmacotherapy, there still are urgent needs in the development of new methods of drug therapy of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). New prospects for drug therapy are currently associated with sarilumab (SAR), recently registered in the Russian Federation for the treatment of moderate to highly active RA in adult patients.

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Efficacy and safety of anti-interleukin-6 treatment in familial Mediterranean fever: a systematic literature review

open access: yesRheumatology
Introduction Biological treatments are indicated in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients with colchicine resistance or intolerance. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) inhibitors may not yield sufficient efficacy and safety. Interleukin-6 inhibitors (tocilizumab

Interleukin‐6 Inhibitor‐Induced Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis: A Case Report With a Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Immunology
Background Leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV) is a known hypersensitivity reaction to biologic agents, often linked to tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α)inhibitors. We present a rare case of LCV in a patient receiving tocilizumab, a monoclonal antibody directed against interleukin‐6 (IL‐6)receptor.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Infusible Extracellular Matrix Biomaterial Enhances Cell‐Specific Pro‐Repair Responses Following Acute Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We measure the cell‐specific responses of administering infusible ECM (iECM) in acute myocardial infarction (MI) across multiple timepoints. Using single‐nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, we measure macrophage activation, fibroblast remodeling, increased vascular development, lymphangiogenesis, cardioprotection, and neurogenesis ...
