Interleukin 8 in Behçet's Disease
The Journal of Dermatology, 1994AbstractActivated peripheral polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and infiltration of PMNs into the lesions are characteristic findings of Behçet's disease (BD). A variety of cytokines, including interleukin 8 (IL‐8), have been shown to activate PMNs. To investigate the role of IL‐8 in the development of BD lesions, IL‐8 production in vivo and in vitro ...

The expression of interleukin-8 and interleukin-8 receptors in endometrial carcinoma
Cytokine, 2012Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which exerts its effects via binding to 2 receptors, CXCR1 and CXCR2 and is known to promote angiogenesis, mitogenesis and motogenesis in cancer. IL-8 is over expressed in endometrial carcinoma, but the expression of CXCR1 and CXCR2 in endometrial carcinoma has not been previously investigated.

Neutrophil activation by monomeric interleukin-8
Cytokine, 1994Interleukin-8 (IL-8), a pro-inflammatory protein, has been shown by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and x-ray techniques to exist as a homodimer. An IL-8 analog was chemically synthesized, with the amide nitrogen of leucine-25 methylated to selectively block formation of hydrogen bonds between monomers and thereby prevent dimerization. This analog was

Interleukin-8 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Blood, 1999To the Editor: In their recent report, Terui et al[1][1] describe the apoptotic activity exerted by endothelial interleukin-8 (IL-8) on a number of leukemic cell lines and in particular on K562 myeloid cells both in vitro and in vivo, in a mouse experimental model. The report by Terui et al[1][1]

Interleukin 8 (IL-8) is one of the most widely studied chemoattractants for leukocytes. It belongs to the newly classified CXC family of chemokine which possesses biological activities mainly on neutrophils. The potential role of IL-8 in inflammation is substantiated by the growing evidences of clinical relevance of IL-8 in various diseases such as ...

Interleukin‐8 in neonatal sepsis
Acta Paediatrica, 2001This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and kinetics of interleukin 8 (IL-8) as a test for early-onset bacterial infections (EOBI) in neonates and to examine whether IL-8 would allow unnecessary antibiotic therapy to be reduced. First, IL-8 was measured 378 times on admission, along with C-reactive protein (CRP), immature to total neutrophil ...

Interleukin 8 production and interleukin 8 receptor expression in human myometrium and leiomyoma
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2001Interleukin 8 is a potent chemoattractant cytokine that is expressed in a variety of human tumors and is known to induce mitogenesis. We aimed to investigate the production of interleukin 8 and the expression of its receptor in myometrium and leiomyoma, in which we hypothesized that interleukin 8 may contribute to cellular proliferation.Myometrial and ...

Studies have demonstrated that the pro-angiogenic cytokine interleukin-8 (IL-8) and the IL-8 receptors likely have a role in the growth and metastasis of various solid tumors. We hypothesized that in vivo neuroblastoma expresses IL-8 and the IL-8 receptors A and B, and that factors known to regulate IL-8 expression are present and active in the ...

Interleukin 8 in the Human Colostrum
Neonatology, 2002We investigated the postpartum changes in colostral interleukin (IL) 8 concentrations during the first 3 postpartum days and examined the IL-8 production of colostral cells at the levels of both protein and mRNA. Colostrum samples were obtained from healthy mothers after full-term delivery.

Amniochorion: A Source of Interleukin‐8
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1995PROBLEM: Preterm labor and premature rupture of the membranes are major complications of pregnancy. We have reported the possible role of amniochorionic membrane in the production of inflammatory cytokines and the early onset of labor. This study was conducted to detect the expression of IL‐8 mRNA and peptide production in cultured fetal membranes ...
