Animal‐Free Setup of a 3D Mature Adipocyte‐Macrophage Co‐Culture to Induce Inflammation In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A completely animal‐free 3D co‐culture is developed using human fat cells and immune cells. Animal‐based materials are replaced with gellan gum hydrogel and a serum‐free medium. Immune cells are effectively activated, producing specific inflammatory signals.

Design and Validation of Hybrid Polymer‐Lipid Nanoparticles as Novel Transfection Vectors for MicroRNA Delivery to Human Cardiac Fibroblasts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid NPs are developed as efficient, scalable nanocarriers for in vitro microRNA delivery, ensuring high loading efficiency, controlled release, physiological and long‐term storage stability. They outperform commercial lipid‐based reagents in terms of transfection efficiency and biocompatibility.

Safety Evaluation of Repeated Application of Polymeric Microarray Patches in Miniature Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the safety of repeated application of three types of microarray patches (MAPs), hydrogelforming, dissolving, and implantable, over four weeks in miniature pigs. No adverse skin or systemic effects were observed, supporting the clinical potential of MAPs as safe and effective drug delivery platforms.

Interleukin-21 Is Associated with the Pathogenesis of Lumbar Disc Herniation

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2015
Inflammation is an important reaction underlying lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Th17 cells play a critical role in immune activation. Interleukin (IL)-21 controls the functional activity of effector T-helper cells and the differentiation of Th17 cells ...

Immunosuppressive Cytokine‐Tethered Hydrogel for Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An injectable hydrogel is developed by chemically tethering IL‐4, an immunosuppressive cytokine, to a hyaluronic acid‐based backbone. The hydrogel reduces joint friction and exerts immunomodulatory effects. In a rheumatoid arthritis (RA) mouse model, it reduced inflammation, preserved cartilage, and promoted anti‐inflammatory immune responses.
