Validation of an automated enzyme immunoassay for interleukin-6 for routine clinical use [PDF]
Serum levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a proinflammatory cytokine, are increased in early stages of inflammatory diseases such as infection and sepsis. Assay systems which permit its measurement within a few hours and as a single measurement have not been

History of interleukin-4 [PDF]
The history of the discovery and the development of our knowledge of IL-4 exemplifies the path of progress in biomedical science. There are unanticipated twists and turns although progress is made, sometimes quickly, other times far too slowly. Illustrative is the extended time from the first report of IL-4 in 1982 to the establishment of the efficacy ...

Cure of murine leishmaniasis with anti-interleukin 4 monoclonal antibody. Evidence for a T cell-dependent, interferon gamma-independent mechanism. [PDF]
BALB/c mice infected with Leishmania major develop fatal, progressive disease, despite an immune response characterized by expansion of CD4+ T cells in the draining lymph nodes.

Interleukin‐4 can induce interleukin‐4 production in dendritic cells
SummaryThe presence of interleukin‐4 (IL‐4) during the generation of dendritic cells (DC) from precursor cells results in measurable increases of IL‐12 in supernatants but IL‐4 secretion has not been reported. However, DC have IL‐4 receptors and are able to make IL‐4. We therefore sought evidence for autocrine effects of IL‐4 on DC.
