Interleukin-8

Critical Care Medicine, 2005
Chemokines are chemotactic cytokines, and interleukin (IL)-8 represents the prototypical chemokine. As the name chemokine indicates, IL-8 is responsible for inducing chemotaxis, which is the directed migration of cells to a site of inflammation ...

Role of interleukin 8 in depression and other psychiatric disorders.

Progress in Neuro-psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 2020
Low grade neuroinflammation has been suggested as one of the underlying mechanisms of many psychiatric diseases as well as cognitive disorders. Interleukin 8 (IL-8), a proinflammatory cytokine produced by many cell types including macrophage and ...

Multiple control of interleukin‐8 gene expression

Journal of Leukocyte Biology, 2002
Interleukin (IL)‐8, a prototypic human chemokine, was detected more than a decade ago as the founding member of the chemokine superfamily. One of the most remarkable properties of IL‐8 is the variation of its expression levels.

Interleukin 8 in Behçet's Disease

The Journal of Dermatology, 1994
AbstractActivated peripheral polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and infiltration of PMNs into the lesions are characteristic findings of Behçet's disease (BD). A variety of cytokines, including interleukin 8 (IL‐8), have been shown to activate PMNs. To investigate the role of IL‐8 in the development of BD lesions, IL‐8 production in vivo and in vitro ...

[Interleukin-8].

Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1995
Interleukin 8 (IL-8) is one of the most widely studied chemoattractants for leukocytes. It belongs to the newly classified CXC family of chemokine which possesses biological activities mainly on neutrophils. The potential role of IL-8 in inflammation is substantiated by the growing evidences of clinical relevance of IL-8 in various diseases such as ...

The expression of interleukin-8 and interleukin-8 receptors in endometrial carcinoma

Cytokine, 2012
Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which exerts its effects via binding to 2 receptors, CXCR1 and CXCR2 and is known to promote angiogenesis, mitogenesis and motogenesis in cancer. IL-8 is over expressed in endometrial carcinoma, but the expression of CXCR1 and CXCR2 in endometrial carcinoma has not been previously investigated.

Interleukin‐8 in neonatal sepsis

Acta Paediatrica, 2001
This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and kinetics of interleukin 8 (IL-8) as a test for early-onset bacterial infections (EOBI) in neonates and to examine whether IL-8 would allow unnecessary antibiotic therapy to be reduced. First, IL-8 was measured 378 times on admission, along with C-reactive protein (CRP), immature to total neutrophil ...
