In wound repair vimentin mediates the transition of mesenchymal leader cells to a myofibroblast phenotype. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Following injury, mesenchymal repair cells are activated to function as leader cells that modulate wound healing. These cells have the potential to differentiate to myofibroblasts, resulting in fibrosis and scarring.

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Comparative analysis and application of a new stability model for the tunnel face with Mogi-coulomb criterion

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources
Tunnel face stability is a fundamental concern in underground construction, essential for safe and efficient project completion. Traditional models offer various approaches to tunnel face stability analysis; however, they often lack integrating of ...

Efficient fe strategies for springback prediction – material modelling and computational aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Blanks of sheet metal are characterized by an intrinsic plastic anisotropic behaviour resulting from the plastic deformation during the rolling of sheets. Another type of anisotropy is elastic anisotropy which might be essential especially during elastic

Revisiting Mission‐Oriented Cancer Research to tackle the increasing burden of cancer in Europe–a policy perspective

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Translational cancer research and its implementation through competitively selected Comprehensive Cancer Centers across Europe should be the primary policy focus for addressing the increasing cancer burden in Europe and counteract the present main strategy to convert cancer to a chronic disease.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Comparison and analysis for prediction accuracy of true triaxial rock strength criterion

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
To verify the predictive accuracy of existing strength criteria on true triaxial strength experimental data, understand the characteristics of different strength criteria, and provide a basis for selecting strength criteria for engineering applications ...

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Non-limit state seismic earth pressure solution for finite soil mass considering intermediate principal stress

open access: yesShenzhen Daxue xuebao. Ligong ban
To investigate the distribution law of non-limit state seismic passive earth pressure in a finite soil mass under the translational (T-mode) pattern of a rigid retaining wall, and to overcome the limitations of existing seismic earth pressure models that
