Phylogeny of Polemoniaceae Based on Nuclear Ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacer DNA Sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) DNA sequences are used to estimate the phylogeny of 53 members of Polemoniaceae, representing all but two genera of the family. Fitch parsimony analysis of equal-weighted nucleotide sites result in 1080

UCHIME improves sensitivity and speed of chimera detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Motivation: Chimeric DNA sequences often form during polymerase chain reaction amplification, especially when sequencing single regions (e.g. 16S rRNA or fungal Internal Transcribed Spacer) to assess diversity or compare populations.

Internal transcribed spacer as the DNA barcode for pathogenic fungi

open access: yes, 2015
Identification of pathogenic fungi isolated from clinical specimens in clinical microbiology laboratories is primarily based on observing fungal phenotypic structures under the microscope and performing biochemical tests for fungal cultures. This conventional method is very time-consuming and labor-dependent.

Quantification and dosimetric impact of intra‐fractional bladder changes during CBCT‐guided online adaptive radiotherapy for pelvic cancer treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study quantitatively evaluates bladder changes and their dosimetric impact during the on‐couch adaptive process on a commercial CBCT‐based online adaptive radiotherapy (CT‐gART) platform. Methods Data from 183 fractions of ten patients receiving online ART for pelvic cancers were analyzed retrospectively.

Sequence analysis of the second internal Transcribed spacer (ITS2) region of rDNA for species identification of trichostrongylus nematodes isolated from domestic livestock in Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Infectivity of herbivores with Trichostrongylus nematodes is widespread in many countries, having a major economic impact on breeding, survivability, and productivity of domestic livestock.

Sampling Local Fungal Diversity in an Undergraduate Laboratory using DNA Barcoding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Traditional methods for fungal species identification require diagnostic morphological characters and are often limited by the availability of fresh fruiting bodies and local identification resources.

Internal transcribed spacer sequence database of plant fungal pathogens: PFP-ITSS database

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2017
The nurseries and plantations of medicinally and economically important plants are facing challenge on health front as they are being rapidly exposed to fungal pathogens thereby affecting their health and productivity adversely.

A procedure for unsupervised lexicon learning [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the eighteenth international conference on machine learning, ICML-01, pp.569--576, 2001, 2001
We describe an incremental unsupervised procedure to learn words from transcribed continuous speech. The algorithm is based on a conservative and traditional statistical model, and results of empirical tests show that it is competitive with other algorithms that have been proposed recently for this task.

A method for measuring spatial resolution based on clinical chest CT sequence images

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aimed to develop and validate a method for characterizing the spatial resolution of clinical chest computed tomography (CT) sequence images. Methods An algorithm for characterizing spatial resolution based on clinical chest CT sequence images was developed in Matlab (2021b).

ITS phylogeny of Balsamorhiza and Wyethia (Asteraceae: Heliantheae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Journal ArticleThe relationships among the species of Balsamorhiza and Wyethia (Asteraceae: Heliantheae) were examined using data from the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the nuclear ribosomal DNA.
