Identifying teleconnections and multidecadal variability of East Asian surface temperature during the last millennium in CMIP5 simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We examine the relationships in models and reconstructions between the multidecadal variability of surface temperature in East Asia and two extratropical modes of variability: the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and the Pacific Decadal ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

The Impact of Internal Variability on Benchmarking Deep Learning Climate Emulators

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
Full‐complexity Earth system models (ESMs) are computationally very expensive, limiting their use in exploring the climate outcomes of multiple emission pathways.

The Impact of Pictorial Display on Operator Learning and Performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The effects of pictorially displayed information on human learning and performance of a simple control task were investigated. The controlled system was a harmonic oscillator and the system response was displayed to subjects as either an animated ...

Causes of differences in model and satellite tropospheric warming rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the early twenty-first century, satellite-derived tropospheric warming trends were generally smaller than trends estimated from a large multi-model ensemble.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Converged ensemble simulations of climate: possible trends in total solar irradiance cannot explain global warming alone

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
We address the hypothetical question of whether an increasing total solar irradiance (TSI) trend, without anthropogenic contributions, could be sufficient to explain the ongoing global warming.

Spurious Indo‐Pacific Connections to Internal Atlantic Multidecadal Variability Introduced by the Global Temperature Residual Method

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
The relative contributions of external forcing and internal processes to the observed spatial and temporal characteristics of “Atlantic Multidecadal Variability” (AMV) are still under debate.

On the Gamma Ray Burst Origin of Extremely Energetic Cosmic Rays

open access: yes, 2009
Air shower experiments have detected cosmic ray events of energies upto 300 EeV. Most likely these cosmic rays have originated from compact objects. Their exact sources are yet to be identified.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
