Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Some Problems for Biolinguistics

open access: yesBiolinguistics, 2014
Biolinguistics will have to face and resolve several problems before it can achieve a pivotal position in the human sciences. Its relationship to the Minimalist Program is ambiguous, creating doubts as to whether it is a genuine subdiscipline or merely ...

Du quotidien au droit ou la compréhension du droit par l’étude du quotidien des juristes

open access: yesCahiers Jean Moulin, 2019
Everyday life is an unusual matter for the legal research; indeed, it is wrongly often relegated to the fields of sociology or political science. Yet, the study of the everyday law can nevertheless reveal valuable lessons for the jurist, provided of ...

Epistemic Luck and the Extended Mind [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Contemporary debates about epistemic luck and its relation to knowledge have traditionally proceeded against a tacit background commitment to cognitive internalism, the thesis that cognitive processes play out inside the head. In particular, safety-based

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Color Relationism and Enactive Ontology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, I present the enactive theory of color that implies a form of color relationism. I argue that this view constitutes a better alternative to color subjectivism and color objectivism.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

An Indian Debate on Semantic Internalism and Externalism: Śāntarakṣita’s Tattvasaṃgraha on the Meaning of Words

open access: yesReligions
The semantic internalist–externalist debate is one of the central themes in contemporary philosophy. The present paper aims to explore the dispute between Śāntarakṣita and his opponents over the meaning of words (śabdārtha) in the śabdārthaparīkṣā ...
