Charge Exchange Effects in Collisional Ionization Equilibrium of C,N, and O Ions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2004
The charge exchange (or transfer) due to collision with hydrogen has important effects on the physical characteristics of astrophysical plasma.

Spaceborne and spaceborn: Physiological aspects of pregnancy and birth during interplanetary flight

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Crewed interplanetary return missions that are on the planning horizon will take years, more than enough time for initiation and completion of a pregnancy. Pregnancy is viewed as a sequence of processes – fertilization, blastocyst formation, implantation, gastrulation, placentation, organogenesis, gross morphogenesis, birth and neonatal ...

On Detecting Interstellar Scintillation in Narrowband Radio SETI

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
To date, the search for radio technosignatures has focused on sky location as a primary discriminant between technosignature candidates and anthropogenic radio frequency interference (RFI).

On the Detection of Low‐Frequency Planetary Radio Emission With an Orbiting Interferometer

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The magnetized planets of the outer Solar System produce kilometric radio emissions at very low frequencies (<1 ${< } 1\,$MHz). They reveal the planetary magnetic dynamics and their interaction with the solar wind. Those radio emissions can also serve as a proxy for interplanetary space weather monitoring.

AIMNet2‐NSE: A Transferable Reactive Neural Network Potential for Open‐Shell Chemistry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 5, 28 January 2026.
AIMNet2‐NSE enables accurate modeling of open‐shell radical chemistry through neural spin‐charge equilibration (NSE). This machine learning interatomic potential predicts radical reaction energies, barriers, and spin‐crossing events with near‐DFT accuracy while offering five orders of magnitude computational speedup, making high‐throughput exploration ...

Exploring turbulence from the Sun to the local interstellar medium: Current challenges and perspectives for future space missions

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
Turbulence is ubiquitous in space plasmas. It is one of the most important subjects in heliospheric physics, as it plays a fundamental role in the solar wind—local interstellar medium interaction and in controlling energetic particle transport and ...

Soft X‐Ray Emission From Saturn's Magnetosheath Part I: 3D Modeling From MHD Data

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Saturn's magnetosheath hosts a mixed population of water‐group neutrals and solar wind plasma. We present a 3‐D model of soft X‐ray emission by ion‐neutral charge exchange in the near‐equatorial magnetosheath. The model employs MHD simulation data of plasma properties at Saturn, Enceladus‐genic neutral populations extrapolated from existing ...

Plasma Diagnostics of the Interstellar Medium with Radio Astronomy [PDF]

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2013
We discuss the degree to which radio propagation measurements diagnose conditions in the ionized gas of the interstellar medium (ISM). The "signal generators" of the radio waves of interest are extragalactic radio sources (quasars and radio galaxies), as well as Galactic sources, primarily pulsars.

Detecting Dark Objects with Plasma Microlensing by Their Gravitational Wakes

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A moving mass makes a gravitational wake in the partially ionized interstellar medium, which acts as a lens for radio-frequency light. Consequently, plasma microlensing could complement gravitational microlensing in the search for invisible massive ...
