Non-invasive biomechanical characterization of intervertebral discs by shear wave ultrasound elastography: a feasibility study. [PDF]
PublishedJournal ArticleThe final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00330-014-3382-8OBJECTIVES: Although magnetic resonance is widely spread to assess qualitatively disc morphology, a simple method to determine reliably ...

The pathophysiology of the intervertebral disc
After a review of disk structure, the pivotal role of disk cells in producing and renewing the extracellular disk matrix is emphasized. Disk cells rely on nutrients that diffuse through the vertebral endplates. Microelectrode methods have been developed to study nutrient diffusion and endplate permeability. Mechanical stimuli modify disk cell activity.

This study characterizes the presence of microplastics in human normal gastric, para‐tumor, and gastric tumor tissue and confirms the association between microplastic exposure and lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer. This study explores the transcriptomic changes induced by microplastic exposure, laying the foundation for further investigation into

Endogenous musculoskeletal tissue engineering - a focused perspective [PDF]
Two major difficulties facing widespread clinical implementation of existing Tissue Engineering (TE) strategies for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders are (1) the cost, space and time required for ex vivo culture of a patient’s autologous cells ...

Biocompatible Ink Optimization Enables Functional Volumetric Bioprinting With Xolography
Xolography's reliance on weak‐base co‐initiators introduces unique biochemical constraints. By dissecting the effects of extracellular pH, osmolality, and lysosomotropic stress, this study defines the biochemical design space that enables fully biocompatible, cell‐laden volumetric printing. Abstract Xolography is a novel linear volumetric manufacturing

A case report of vacuum sign surgery for the inner recess of lumbar spinal canal
The formation of intervertebral disc vacuum sign can be observed in late stage degenerative changes of the lumbar disc. In 1937, Magnusson first proposed intervertebral disc vacuum sign, which refers to the accumulation of gas caused by disc dehydration ...
