Optimisation of Intervertebral Disc Mechanical Properties and the Impact of Vertebral Alignment in Subject‐Specific Finite Element Models [PDF]
Optimisation methods were compared for a porcine lumbar intervertebral disc model. Neither optimising with 6‐axis forces and moments nor optimising with disc pressures fully captured spinal behaviour. Addressing model limitations could improve the process.

Abstract Microgravity is associated with stature increases, back pain and post‐flight intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation. This study aims to determine whether 30 s seated 50% body weight (BW) axial loading is comparable to 15 min sitting upright in 1 g upon changes in stature, anterior lumbar IVD height (via ultrasound), passive vertebral stiffness ...

Crosstalk Between Ferroptosis and Cuproptosis in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration: Mechanisms, Therapeutic Targets, and Future Directions. [PDF]
GSH, oxidative stress, TCA cycle, autophagy, and copper are the intersection targets of ferroptosis and cuproptosis in IVDD. ABSTRACT Background Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a prevalent degenerative disease, with low back pain as its primary clinical symptom, imposing significant burdens on individuals and society.
