Brachioradial pruritus in a patient with cervical disc herniation and Parsonage-Turner syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2015
Brachioradial pruritus is a chronic sensory neuropathy of unknown etiology which affects the skin of the shoulders, arms and forearms on the insertion of the brachioradialis muscle.

Morphological variation in atlas and axis of Neotropical spiny rats (Rodentia, Echimyidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The unique morphologies of the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, represent a significant innovation in mammalian evolution. These structures support the weight of the head and enable intricate movements of the head and neck.

Biomechanical comparison between unilateral and bilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: A finite element analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Background and objective: The osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) has an incidence of 7.8/1000 person-years at 55–65 years. At 75 years or older, the incidence increases to 19.6/1000 person-years in females and 5.2–9.3/1000 person-years in

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

LUMBAR ENDOSCOPIC PERCUTANEOUS DISCECTOMY - CLINICAL OUTCOME. PROSPECTIVE STUDY

open access: yesColuna/Columna
Objective: Lumbar disc herniation is a common indication for surgical treatment of the spine. Open microdiscectomy is the gold standard. New surgical techniques have emerged, such as spinal endoscopy.

Nacre‐inspired layered composite with excellent mechanical support and osteogenic potential for cervical interbody cage

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The cervical interbody cage needs to take both biomechanical and biological requirements into account. Here, a new‐style degradable, multicomponent, and bioinspired nacre‐like cervical interbody cage composite, which exhibits promising mechanical‐support‐related behavior and osteogenesis‐related potential, is designed and prepared.
