Anesthetic and analgesic management of a skunk (Mephitis mephitis) undergoing a laminectomy for cauda equina compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A 6-year-old, male striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis) weighing 5.9 kg was anesthetized for diagnostic imaging procedures and subsequently for a laminectomy at level L6/S1 as treatment of lumbosacral stenosis. On both occasions, anesthesia was induced by a

Using geographical information system for spatial evaluation of canine extruded disc herniation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Disc herniation is one of the most common pathologies of the vertebral column in dogs. The aim of this study was to develop a geographical information system (GIS)-based vertebral canal (VC) map useful for spatial evaluation of extruded disc herniation ...

Senescent Synovial Intimal Fibroblasts Aggravate Osteoarthritis by Regulating Macrophage Polarization and Chondrocyte Phenotype Through ANGPTL4‐α5β1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Senescent synovial intimal fibroblasts (SIF) are identified as key drivers of osteoarthritis. They promote M1 macrophage polarization and cartilage degeneration via the ANGPTL4–α5β1 axis, regulated by transcription factors EGR1 and ATF3. Pharmacological inhibition of this pathway alleviates disease, revealing SIF senescence as a promising therapeutic ...

ROS‐Responsive Wedelolactone Hydrogel Promotes Intervertebral Disc Repair by Disrupting the NF‐κB–LCN2 Inflammatory Feedback Loop

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically robust, ROS‐responsive hydrogel is engineered to treat intervertebral disc degeneration by targeting the NF‐κB–LCN2 inflammatory feedback loop. By delivering wedelolactone specifically within oxidative niches, this system disrupts macrophage–disc cell crosstalk.

Lactylation Reprogramming in the Bone Infection Microenvironment Identifies PGK1 K361 as a Potential Therapeutic Target for Osteogenic Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infection creates a high‐lactate microenvironment, promoting p300‐mediated lactylation of PGK1 at lysine 361 (K361). Lactylated PGK1 translocates to the mitochondrial outer membrane and interacts with VDAC3. This interaction triggers FtMt downregulation, iron accumulation, and excessive PINK1/Parkin‐mediated mitophagy,
