Severe head injuries and intracranial pressure monitoring outcome in Southern Iran

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2006
BACKGROUND: Head injury is still a major cause of death and disability. Despite advances in intensive monitoring and clinical practice, little data is available to show the predictive value of intracranial pressure monitoring in assessment of the outcome

无创颅内压监测的研究进展 Research Progress of Noninvasive Intracranial Pressure Monitoring

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi
颅内压是指颅腔内容物对颅腔壁的压力,其变化能反映颅内的生理、病理变化情况。成人平卧位的颅内压持续维持在15 mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)以上,即为颅内高压。

Nanoscopic Mapping of the Extracellular Space in Amyloid Plaque‐rich Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The extracellular space and diffusion around amyloid plaques are examined using shadow imaging and single‐particle tracking. Increased diffusivity is found near plaques, extracellular matrix alterations, and plaque core penetrability that varies with amyloid phenotype.

Dissolution Study of Biodegradable Magnesium Silicide Thin Films for Transient Electronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnesium silicide (Mg2Si) is introduced as a narrow‐bandgap, biodegradable semiconductor for transient electronics. RF‐sputtered and annealed Mg2Si thin films show high intrinsic electrical conductivity and low thermal conductivity. The polycrystalline material undergoes hydrolysis in aquatic and composting environments with minimal cytotoxicity ...

Effects of moderate sedation induced by propofol or midazolam on intracranial pressure

open access: yesABCS Health Sciences
Introduction: Propofol and midazolam are the main options for moderate sedation in clinical practice. In addition, these drugs are used to reduce intracranial pressure in cases of intracranial hypertension, and their use in these situations is guided by

A Supramolecular Nanoscavengers: Based “Cargo‐Exchange” Breaking Cholesterol Metabolic Dysregulation for Glioblastoma Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulated cholesterol metabolism, driven by a complex array of mechanisms, is a defining characteristic of glioblastoma (GBM). In this study, supramolecular nanoscavengers are engineered by harnessing the intrinsic binding affinity between endogenous small‐molecule cholesterol and β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD).

The influence of hyperthermia on intracranial pressure, cerebral oximetry and cerebral metabolism in traumatic brain injury

open access: yesUpsala Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background: Hyperthermia is a common secondary insult in traumatic brain injury (TBI). The aim was to evaluate the relationship between hyperthermia and intracranial pressure (ICP), and if intracranial compliance and cerebral blood flow (CBF) pressure ...

Invasive pressure monitoring saves from tuberculous meningitis with fulminant generalized brain edema

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2011
We report a 57-year old female patient with a rapid and dramatic dynamic of whole brain edema caused by tuberculous meningitis. After initiation of tuberculostatic medication, general condition of the patient worsened and finally she was intubated due to
